NED Academy – Coming Up With New Courses To Upgrade Skills

The NED Academy; formerly known as the “Nadirshaw Eduljee Dinshaw Engineering College” (NED), is basically a public research-based university situated in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

However, later in 1947 with the new boundaries being set apart, this institute was acquired by the Government of Sindh. It was renamed as NED-Government Engineering College and was affiliated with the University of Sindh. Nowadays it is also known as NEDUET and is a recognized, degree rewarding, and a high ranked university which has been affiliated with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan; a government-appointed body and has an academic affiliation with the Pakistan Engineering Council Higher Education Commission Washington Accord.
The vice-chancellor; Sarosh Hashmat Lodi ensures that the students graduating from the institute should be capable enough to stand out in the competition from all over the world. At large, NED has gained fame as an engineering university; hence they offer a large spectrum of industry options in which engineering can be acquired. Under the category of vocational courses are those offered and designed specially to meet the needs of the unprivileged. NAVTTC – Prime Minister’s Hunarmand Pakistan Program, High-TECH-Cohort-B (2021)
NAVTCC is the flagship of Prime Minister’s Hunarmand Pakistan program in which the organization takes up almost all responsibility to train and upskill the labor force who are either not literate or not literate enough and educate them, not only to work better but to better their overall living experience by educating their basic safety, HR, and professional upgrading protocols that will surely make a difference in their lives. Whenever needed workshops are conducted with the best faculty and facilities. This program aims to leave a positive impact on hard workers, and daily wagers by providing them with a chance to excel.
PITB – National Freelance Training Program (NFTP)
PITB (Punjab Information Technology Board) was founded in 1999 as a self-governing body to represent the Department of Industries. However, later in 2001, its administration was transferred to the department of Information Technology. NFTP is the seed of PITB that was sowed with the thought to provide the youth of this country with the opportunity to make use of technology to earn their living. Striking two birds with a stone. How? Pakistan has an ever-growing population with more than 65% of youth ranging from 17 – 29 years. There are no jobs to accommodate all the graduates. The above said program aims at the training of faculty; who are the building blocks for any institution. Either the staff is not sophisticated enough to be given entitlement of the tasks that they are given mostly due to lack of implication of laws and policies. To sum it up there are basically four sub-categories; languages, language preparation for tests, skill enhancement, and certifications that require to be updated regarding the laws with proper practical training where necessary.
